George Singleton Brown enlisted June 20,1862 in Dover, Pope county, Arkansas In Co. H. 35th Arkansas Infantry. He was described as 30 years old, dark hair, blue eyes, dark complection and 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was discharged by the surgeon on August 4, 1862 for a physical disability. He married his cousin Sarah Crites. George Singleton Brown was born Febuary 12, 1832 in Cape Giradeau county, Missouri and died July 16,1916 in Ryan, Jefferson county, Oklahoma. He married Sarah Crites on November 23, 1851 in Pope county, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Moses Crites and DeMaris Hubbel. Sarah was born August 6, 1832 in Cape Giradeau county, Missouri and died February 16, 1916 in Ryan, Jefferson county, Oklahoma. They had 8 children.
