Dorton

Albert Monroe Dorton, 54, of Ridgedale, Mo. Route 1 was killed Wednsday morning in a one vehicle accident of Route JJ seven miles south of Branson, according to a spokesman for the Missouri Highway Patrol. The spokesman said Dorton was traveling east and apparently lost control of his vehicle, which struck a tree.

Dorton was a native of Craighead county and spent most of his life in the Jonesboro area. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Annie R. Dorton, who died April 14.

Survivors include three sons, Chad Dorton of the home, Martin Dorton of Jonesboro and Shane Dorton of Memphis, Tenn; two daughters, Mrs. Jodi Johanson of the home and Mrs. Charmaine Childress of Jonesboro; five sisters, Mrs. Dorthy Rainbolt, Mrs. Vera Moore, Mrs. Zelma Wilson, Mrs. Betty Watkins and Mrs. Orma Jo Vincent, all of Jonesboro; one half sister, Mrs. Elsie Parker of Oakdale, La.; three brothers, Russel Dorton, Howard Dorton and Doyle Dorton all of Jonesboro; one half brother, Lloyd Dorton of Portland, Ore; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 Saturday morning at Farmers Union Funeral Home chapel with Sherman Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery near Jonesboro.

The body will lie in state at the funeral home from 6 until 9 this evening.
