Resident of County for 40 years Dies Mrs. Nancy Jane Brown succumbs Suddenly at Home East of Comanche Mrs. Nancy Jane Brown, 68, one of Stephens countys first settlers died last night at her home east of Comanche. She had been in poor health about a year but had been feeling better lately. Sunday evening she went out in the yard to feed her chickens. She came back in the house and lay down on the bed. She was dead five minutes later. Mrs. Brown is survived by her widower. The couple had been married 51 years. They came to southern Oklahoma from Arkansas 40 years ago. Seven daughters, two sons, 41 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive. A sister Mrs. Tyler lives south of Comanche. The children are Mrs. Sarah Johnston, Comanche; Mrs. Eli Brown, Comanche; Mrs. Neary Pickett, Comanche; Mrs. Minnie Pickett, Comanche; Mrs. Alice Martin, Comanche, George Brown, Allen, Okla.; Mrs. Cleytus Branch, Empire; Clarence Brown, Seminole, Okla.; and Mrs. Sylvia Hockitt, Cowallen, Okla. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church for 40 years. The funeral was to be held at 4 o'clock this afternoon at the First Baptist Church of Comanche conducted by the Rev. Boswell, assisted by Mrs. Cassie Brown of Ryan. The Beeson Grantham Funeral Home in Comanche had charge of arrangements for the funeral.
