William Budford Brown enlisted June 20, 1862 in Co. H. 35th Arkansas Infantry C.S.A. in Dover, Pope county, Arkansas. He was described as 24 years old, black Hair, Blue eyes, dark complection and 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was discharged by Surgeon on August 14, 1862 with chronic Bronchitus. William Homesteaded in Arkansas. After the death of his wife William and family travelled to Indian Territory in 1889-1890 where they settled in the Comanche area of what is now Stephens county, Oklahoma. The family was hoping to get on the Dawes rolls due to the Indian Herritage from Williams wife Rebecca. Only one child of William stayed in Arkansas. The rest of the family all went southwest. William Budford Brown was born August 18, 1838 in Missouri and died about 1916 in Stephens county, Oklahoma. He married Rebecca Catherine Cooper daughter of William and Berthinia Halbrook Cooper. She was born October 28, 1840 in Tennessee and died November 19, 1882 in Pope county, Arkansas. She is buried in Paschal Cemetery, Pope county, Arkansas. They had 8 children. 2. Mary Brown was born July 18, 1861 in Arkansas and died June 18,1863 in Pope county, Arkansas. She is buried in Paschal Cemetery, Pope county, Arkansas. 6. Sarah Brown was born April 15, 1872 in Arkansas and died November 15,1872 in Pope county, Arkansas. She is buried in Paschal Cemetery, Pope county, Arkansas. 7. Nancy Alice Brown was born 1875 in Pope county, Arkansas and died 1948 in Stephens county, Oklahoma. She never married. Nancy is buried in Fairlawn Cemetery, Comanche, Stephens county, Oklahoma. 8.
